Don't let this happen to you! Our own Sales Engineer Fred Sidelinger pointing to a huge chunk one customer had to cut away from his stainless steel prop just to remove it! Prop grease is a bargain--you know what they say about an ounce of prevention? How about 25 grams of prevention? 828250 (small tube) Did you know that you should carry an extra propeller in your boat for emergencies? Most boat owners are surprised when they learn that the cost for towing a boat can be significantly more than towing a car. The fact is, most sea-tow operators want between $300 and $400 to show up and $200 per hour thereafter. You can avoid this expense by buying a spare. |

ANODESAnodes are to be sacrificed in order to protect the drive unit and propeller against galvanic corrosion. Volvo Penta anodes are tested specifically produced for Volvo Penta drives and propellers. The specifications are, in certain cases, more stringent than any other marine materials standards in the world. If 50% or more of the anode has been eaten away by corrosion, it must be replaced in order to, once more, fulfill its vital function. Never jeopardize safety and performance by fitting a non-genuine anode. Remember to never paint anodes. |

Zinc and aluminum anodes will, if left in freshwater, become covered with a white oxide which effectively passivates the anode. Zinc anodes suffer a similar issue even when in brackish water. If the anode becomes passive, the drive will start to sacrifice iself, causing serious damage. Magnesium anodes wear off too fast in saltwater. |
